Wind Energy Project in Gujarat, India

  • 3. Good Health
  • 4. Quality Education
  • 7. Affordable Clean Energy
  • 8. Work + Economic Growth
  • 13. Climate Action
The Wind Energy project was developed by Vish Wind Infrastructure LLP (“VWIL”), an independent power producer owned by the promoters of Wind World (India) Ltd. The project deploys 63 units of WTGs of Enercon technology , and delivers an annual average of 107 GWh of green electricity to the regional grid.

This project addresses not only the power demand–supply gap in the state of Gujarat, but also assists in sustainable growth, conservation of resources, and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. The project contributes to an approximate reduction of 101,234 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year by displacing an equivalent amount of electricity generation at the grid. In the absence of this project, the equivalent amount of electricity would have been generated from conventional power plants based on fossil fuels.

With the implementation of the project, the local communities have been benefited with employment, health, education, improved infrastructure, socio-economic development etc. in the region.

Project impacts and benefits:

  • Local employment generation

“Mahek (9 years) from Sethvadla village in Samana Jamnagar,Gujarat, was grossly anemic with less than 8 grams of hemoglobin which reached to 12 grams after continuous medicine support, counseling from health worker for her nutritional inputs along with follow up for two months. She has recovered fast and now is in a healthy condition. The support from the “Mobile health clinic” helped her to overcome her chronic sickness at her door step. Her family and relatives are grateful to the Project Proponent and their hope of life with Mahek has been restored.”

“It was great to witness that our program has been able to cater to the actual needs of the community. One of the recent examples is Dilipbhai Bhikhubhai Tilavat, a 55 years old person from project region, in Jamnagar. The old man was suffering from skin problem, weakness and numbness in his left hand. He was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus & Hyper tension since 3 to 4 year which made him ineffective for regular work. Through our community health worker, we came to know that he is the only earning member in his family, so his inability to work has made his family suffer a lot. Though the patient earlier visited Primary Health centre but it was not of much help as availability of government doctor in the Community Health Centre (CHC) was intermittent. Through our awareness program, he has been motivated and advised to visit our Mobile Health Van facility at his village. He visited the Mobile Health Van on 16th September 2016. The doctor observed him, treated him with medicines. After a proper medicinal period, the health worker followed up and found that he gained speedy recovery. Now he has got complete relief from skin disease and also from the body pain. For last five months the patient is taking medicine and has good control on blood pressure and Diabetes Mellitus as well. He has overcome 70 % of his disease and is going for work regularly. His family is now relieved from starvation. The whole family expresses gratefulness towards the Mobile health Care initiative undertaken by the project developer in the region. We are committed to create positive impacts and we have embarked into this journey.”
