Incentivizing supply chain resource efficiency

Description:
Period of Consultation:
22 Apr 2014-1 Jun 2014
Objective(s) of Consultation:
As part of our efforts to scale up our impact on climate change, The Gold Standard is exploring wider private sector efforts to incentivize resource efficiency and sustainable development in supply chains.
We proposed a study to quantify carbon savings and other environmental benefits in a manufacturing process for a lower carbon footprint coating material for use in beverage and food packaging. The proposed methodology deals with the reduction in energy associated with the production of one of the raw materials used in the coating formulation.
The Gold Standard invited feedback from stakeholders on the two proposed approaches and/or other possible ways to incentivize activities that reduce GHG emissions in supply chains.
