REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Development of a web Application to display geographical distribution of data

  • Deadline Aug 30, 2024 at 15:00 (European Central Time GMT+1:00)

Purpose of the assignement

Gold Standard is seeking information from qualified consultants or development firms regarding the creation of an interactive map application. This application will be integrated into Gold Standard’s website(s) and used to visualise data in a user-friendly manner, enabling interactions such as clickable markers, zooming functionality, and displaying related information in text fields. The application should serve various purposes, for example showcasing the geographical distribution of climate projects, carbon market regulations, and partnerships and collaborations that Gold Standard has with other institutions.

Each of these topics will constitute a separate map project and will be displayed (embedded or linked) from various locations on our website www.goldstandard.org. Since not all data will be displayed on the same map, a flexible design that accommodates multiple maps with different data sets is required.

Description of the assignement

Overview

We envision an interactive geographical map application with the following key features:

1.   Interactive Map Interface: Users should be able to zoom in/out and pan across the map seamlessly.

2.   Clickable Items: Specific locations on the map (such as pin point, areas, political regions) can be marked and users can roll-over or click to reveal additional information.

3.   Related Data Visualisation for Content Detail on Main Page: The summarised content can be displayed in a table or cards grid below the map  and onto the map, as a pop-up card.

4.   Information Display: Clicking on elements can open modals or pages with  detailed information about the selected location.

5.   Data Management: Ability to upload and manage different datasets for various research projects or partnership distributions. This would preferably be via a CMS, with a batch upload needed for large existing datasets. And example of a dataset is available here.

6.   Responsive Design: The application must be compatible with both desktop and mobile devices.

7.   User-Friendly Interface: Intuitive design, in line with the current GS website’s look and feel, that can be easily navigated by users with varying levels of technical expertise.

The planned project with annotations on details is available in FIGMA upon request  and linked to this document as a PDF. Technical requirements are noted on Sections 4, 5 and 6. In addition, further information is attached on Gold Standard’s “Regulation Tracker Map”, to illustrate a planned application.
