Gold Standard is seeking a Service Provider to undertake a diagnosis of opportunities for cooperation under Article 6.8 in Colombia, Peru, Mexico, and Ecuador.
The intended purpose of this assignment is to enable governments in Colombia, Peru, Mexico and Ecuador to identify, prioritize, and prepare for opportunities to cooperate internationally under Article 6.8 in ways that maximise alignment with national development and climate goals.
Towards this end, the Service Provider is expected to undertake the following tasks:
- Conduct a desk-based assessment and develop a summary report on the global status of Article 6.8 implementation, including typologies of possible cooperation activities and relevant examples to date.
- Develop four country-specific diagnostics (Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru) that provide implementable recommendations for priority activity types under Article 6.8, based on alignment with national priorities, institutional capacity, and mitigation potential.
- Provide technical support to country governments in preparing and drafting information for submission to the UNFCCC Article 6.8 web platform, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency with the guidance provided by the Secretariat.
While Article 6.8 is intended to promote ambition in both mitigation and adaptation, this assignment will be focused on mitigation-related opportunities.
