This document provides standardised and streamlined procedures for governments and independent crediting standards to follow when implementing Article 6.2
Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement allows governments and private sector participants to cooperate internationally to achieve their nationally determined contribution targets. By using existing independent crediting standards to certify emission reductions and removals, governments can benefit from the proven expertise of existing voluntary carbon market infrastructure. The Article 6.2 Crediting Protocol proposes a set of standardised procedures for governments and crediting programmes to follow.
