Organisations everywhere are under pressure to move beyond ambition and deliver real climate and nature impacts. Gold Standard’s quarterly Responsible Business Practices webinar series helps organisations set and check their direction so they can act confidently, reduce uncertainty and deliver credible sustainability outcomes.

Ongoing Emissions Responsibility - Cover

Each quarter, we navigate the evolving landscape of climate and nature action. Participants will learn about the latest trends, case studies and resources that show what meaningful responsibility looks like in practice. This quarter’s webinar focused on Ongoing Emissions Responsibility (OER) as a defining element of corporate climate accountability.

Even the most ambitious organisations will continue to generate significant emissions on their journey to net zero. As global temperatures approach critical thresholds, value chain abatement alone is no longer enough; organisations must take active ownership of their unabated emissions.

This webinar explores the findings of the landmark Gold Standard report, Ongoing Emissions – Taking Responsibility, launched during London Climate Action Week 2026. It is designed for Sustainability professionals.

The session will cover:

  • The Regulatory Push: how developments like the EU Empowering Consumers Directive (EmpCo) and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) are restricting generic "carbon neutral" claims and driving a shift toward contribution-based models.
  • Decoding SBTi CNZS 2.0: An inside look at the new voluntary recognition framework, including the tiered "Recognised," "Advanced," and "Leadership" labels for organisations taking responsibility for their ongoing emissions.
  • Operationalising Responsibility: Practical implementation steps from the report, including:
  1. Financial Commitments. Why the "money-for-tonne" internal carbon fee is regarded as the most robust approach to generating a dedicated climate budget;
  2. Business Case. Adopting OER is a strategic move that translates climate accountability into tangible business value;
  3. Activity Portfolio Design. Moving beyond carbon credits to include Research & Development (R&D), policy advocacy, and nature restoration;
  4. High-Integrity Claims. Communicating climate action as a contribution to global goals rather than "cancelling out" internal footprints.

Speakers will be confirmed soon.
