CORSIA Phase 1: Designated Organisation to Manage Assessment and Approval of Insurance Policies

Last December, ICAO announced that Gold Standard was approved to supply eligible credits for Phase 1 of CORSIA (2024-26). One of the new requirements for credits to be eligible for Phase 1 is the need for robust provisions to avoid double counting between host country’s NDCs and the use of credits by aeroplane operators towards CORSIA. In guidance published in December, Gold Standard recognised insurance as one route to address this risk. Through this RfP, Gold Standard is seeking an expert partner to lead and manage the assessment of different insurance policies, to identify policies that are suitable to manage this risk of double counting. This assessment process will enable the establishment and maintenance of a list of approved insurance policies, that project developers can choose from if they wish to use insurance to support the eligibility of their credits for Phase 1 of CORSIA.
